        Main Description

        A current state diagram is useful for the stakeholders to:

        • Know where we are today
        • Identify opportunities for improvement
        • Identify responsibilities
        • Identify applicable interfaces
        • Define the processing steps in order
        Steps
        Reviewing existing documentation
        Using a variety of documents including Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), User Manuals, System Manuals, Context Diagrams, Processes and Procedures to gain an understanding of the current process.
        Conduct brainstorm sessions
        By interviewing stakeholders, collect ideas from participants allowing them to brainstorm process step and details.
        Alternatives
        To document the current state in a narrative manner.
