Purpose

The purpose of the task of developing the Requirements Management Plan is to:

  • Identify deliverables for projects for which the BA is responsible.
  • Set expectations of how requirements will be managed.
  • Note any project deliverables that will be excluded.

    Main Description
    The task of developing the Requirements Management Plan is more often merely distributing the standard template. It is necessary to update the template to note deliverables that are to be excluded; note the reason for the exclusion and update the Stakeholder(s) column to demonstrate that the exclusion of the deliverable(s) has been agreed upon.
    Steps
    Develop the RMP
    Copy the Requirements Management Plan template from OpenUp
    Note any standard deliverables that will be excluded (on Page 2) by documenting the reason why it was agreed upon that the deliverable was not required.
    Obtain sign-off
    Obtain signoff from project Stakeholder(s) only if it is decided that any deliverables will be excluded.
