Status reports are developed by the team lead, usually the program or project manager, to describe how the project is
moving in relation to the stated/approved plan. If the project is progressing ahead of schedule or lagging behind
schedule, the accurate status must be described for the consumers of this report.
Whether the project is ahead of schedule and with good quality or the project is behind schedule and
suffering in quality, accurate status allows management to direct corporate resources and energy to
parts of the organization that will benefit accordingly.
