    Main Description
This activity is performed to create, draft, and communicate the project or program status report. Multiple roles are involved in the creation of the status report to draw an accurate representation of the health of the project or program at a particular point in the project life cycle.
    Steps
Draft a new project status report

Start with the status report from the previous reporting period, if one exists. If a status report does not exist, use the template provided to draft a new status report.

    Gather inputs from project team

Using focused status gathering sessions, collect and record:

    • Activities performed this reporting period
    • Activities planned for the next reporting period
    • Issues that must be addressed
    • Risks that must be mitigated or monitored
Communicate the status with the project team

Send the compiled report back to the team and allow at least 4 hours for review and feedback. Once feedack is in, make appropriate changes to the status.

Record the status report in the project document repository

Be sure the final copy is stored in the project's document repository for future reference and for long-term archival.

Communicate the status report to stakeholders

Rather than emailing the status report as an attachment, send an email with the link to the report to stakeholders.
